Meet Kat
Hi, I’m Kat! I’m fun, easy going and love to laugh. I love making people feel special: my family, my friends and my clients. I’m naturally someone who cheers everyone on and I love being my clients’ biggest fan. It might sound cliche, but if you hire me, we are going to be friends. I can’t help it - it’s just who I am. My goal is for your experience with me to be just as wonderful as the photos I’m delivering to you!
A bit of background…
I grew up in Dartmouth until I was 21 before moving to Iqaluit, Nunavut, where I lived for almost 15 years working as a Customer Service Manager for an airline. While I was there, I met the love of my life, Aaron. In 2020, we had our little girl, Piper Mackenzie, and knew it was time to move home to Nova Scotia.
I’ve always been a creative, always searching for my next project. In Nunavut, I did a lot of woodworking, home design, renovations and DIY projects. I also ran an Air BnB until the pandemic hit. When I moved home, I decided it was time to embrace my creative side fully, leave the corporate world become and start my own business. I never imagined I’d fall in love so hard with what I do now. This little side hustle has turned into the full-time career of my dreams and I honestly feel so lucky that so many people have let me into the most intimate and important days of their lives.
My Style
When it comes to my photography style, I aim to deliver beautiful, timeless, fun and emotional photos. A great mix of mantle-worthy and candid, real shots. My editing style is true to colour, crisp and creative. I love to play around with flashblur and grain once all of the important photos are taken. At weddings, the dance floor is one of my favourite parts of the day!
My biggest compliment from my past clients is that I make everything really easy and comfortable for everyone. I’m not big on stiff poses but instead love to give prompts that embrace movement and create photos with real moments and feelings that you can look back on and remember that exact moment in time.
